The QEW rivalry isn't quite what Sabres fans hoped for at this particular stage of their rebuild, but they couldn't help but feel happy with the team's effort on Sunday.

The Sabres defeated the Leafs 5-2 at the Key Bank Center in Buffalo on Sunday in a game that saw the Sabres explode for three goals in a span of 91 seconds.

After Eichel scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winner, he skated up to the glass and motioned to a group of Leafs fans to keep sitting. Anytime the Sabres and their players can stick to to the Leafs and their fans, you know folks in Buffalo will be on-board.

Eichel relishes playing the Leafs and is no stranger to ruffling the feathers of the Leaf Nation. Back in March of 2017, Eichel celebrated in front of a group of Leafs fans sitting front-row at KeyBank.

In 17 career games, Eichel has exploded for 23 points (14 goals, 9 assists) and is working his way up the all-time goal-scoring rate against the blue and white. Eichel's 14 goals are the most he's scored against any other team in the NHL.

Post-game, Eichel told reporters, in a smirking manner, to make their own assumptions on the motion.

With the win, the Sabres leapfrogged the Habs in the Atlantic and trail the Leafs by eight points for third in the Atlantic following their third-straight victory.
