The path to the AFC Championship Game with the New England Patriots for the Pittsburgh Steelers hit a severe road block in the form of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

The Jacksonville #Jaguars are moving on after defeating the Pittsburgh #Steelers 45-42.

Several Steeler players, including running back Le’Veon Bell assumed the Jags were going to be a mere stepping stone with this tweet implying Pittsburgh was ready for Round 2 against New England.

The phrase of “Taking one game at a time” is very common in the sports world and is often used by players to diffuse questions from the media regarding a big matchup.

Steelers safety Mike Mitchell emphatically answered a question on facing the Patriots in the Championship game, and essentially overlooked and disregarded the Jaguars as a potential threat to knock them out of the playoffs.

To make matters worse, Mitchell reportedly went outside of the Jags locker room prior to kick off and created even more bulletin board material by taunting the team.

Instead of shooting off his mouth so much, Mitchell maybe should’ve put a little more effort into preparing for the Jags. Following the game, several Jags players where seen and heard yelling “Where’s Mitchell? Bring Mike Out here!” as they walked from the field through the concourse and back into their locker room.

Even the Jags Twitter account decided to troll Mitchell with this ruthless chirp quote tweeting the same SportsCenter tweet from a few weeks back.

 BOOM, shots fired!

Other players were quoted post-game with their thoughts on Mitchell’s silly comments.

Don’t sleep on the Sacksonville. While they’ll be in tough against the Patriots, this is a good football team, and Mike Mitchell might want to rethink his trash-talking strategy for next season. At least he has all offseason to think about it.

Don’t talk smack if you can’t back it up.
