It looks like the Ben Simmons era in Philadelphia may be over.

The Australian defensive-specialist has been subject to trade rumours for a couple seasons now, but news that he had actually requested a trade out of Philly surfaced this week. While we don’t have all the details on the situation, it seems like Simmons relationship with Joel Embiid is NOT the reason.

At least, not if you ask Embiid.

The man who made “Trust The Process” famous wanted everyone to know that he has nothing to do with the ‘process’ being interrupted. Responding to a report that a rift between himself and Simmons was a catalyst in Simmons wanting out, Embiid made it clear that he loves playing with his teammate.

Embiid didn’t just hold the media accountable, though. He also called out Philly fans, stating that they “gotta be better.”

Regardless of what unfolds this offseason, it’s clear Embiid has no interest in getting associated alongside drama. At least, as much as you can avoid it while still calling people out on Twitter like this. It’s a balance.
