Johnny Gaudreau has become one of the faces of the Calgary Flames franchise.

Johnny Hockey has risen to stardom quickly in the NHL, as in his first three seasons he has scored at least 60 points. Still, he’s fairly new to the Calgary area and isn’t yet accustomed to some of their traditions – such as the Stampede in the summer.

Gaudreau got to experience the Stampede for the first time this year (You may have seen some photos of him on a horse), but at least one of his days at the event didn’t work out so well.

Gaudreau was at NHL Media Day in New York last week and Alex Prewitt of Sports Illustrated caught up with him. That’s when he described the not-so picturesque version of his day at the Stampede.

It’s amazing and terrible at the same time.

Of course it sounds like Johnny shook it off and we’re sure he’ll be back again soon. Perhaps he just needs the boys from On the Bench to show him the fundies of the Stampede – we’re sure a couple Calgary locals know how to avoid the nastier sides of it all.
