Johnny Manziel has been sharing a lot of information on Twitter over the past couple of weeks, but a lot of it was somewhat cryptic.

For months, rumours have swirled that Manziel will make his return to football in the CFL, which is still possible, but it appears he will play somewhere else first. Starting in March a developmental football league based out of Austin, Texas starts a short season and Manziel will play there before he has an opportunity to play in either the CFL or NFL.

Obviously he’s had success in the state of Texas before, so he’ll have a good group of fans behind him. Whether or not this will impact his decision to play in the CFL remains to be seen. There is no overlap in schedule between the leagues (The Spring League only runs from March 28 to April 15) and CFL and NFL scouts both frequent this league.

Two CFL teams attended the event last year, so where Manziel ends up will totally depend on his performance in the league. If anything, it might decide how much money he’ll make wherever he plays.

Either way, #ComebackSZN is officially here.
