On Wednesday night, five players made their NHL debut on the opening night of the season, and two of those players are from Canadian teams.

Andreas Borgman of the Leafs and Kailer Yamamoto are the two players we're talking about and both players enjoyed a win in their debuts as the Leafs steamrolled the Jets and the Oilers blanked the Flames.

For now, we're going to focus on Yamamoto's debut, or more specifically what transpired before his debut before the game got underway in Edmonton.

As the Oilers headed out for their pregame warmup, they let Yamamoto go out on the ice by himself and take the first lap around the ice on his own.

This is one of the best traditions/pranks in hockey and it was cool we got to see it unfold on the opening night of the season.

Although Yamamoto didn't record his first NHL goal or point in his debut, we imagine he's completely fine with that because the night was special in itself without the stats.
