On Monday, a New Year's Day tradition that has been going on since 2008 continues as the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers battle in the annual Winter Classic.

The Sabres hosted the first ever Winter Classic 10 years ago today and last week, New Era Field made history again as it hosted the first-ever World Juniors outdoor game.

There's quite a bit of snow out here in Buffalo 😂🌨

While we don't envision the Sabres and Rangers having to deal with anywhere close to as much snow (if any at all) when they take the ice in New York, the players will still have to deal with the elements like the sun, for example.

In order to deal with the glare, players usually rock some eye black in order to deal with it and at practice on Sunday, a number of Sabres players wore it to test it out before the game.

Evander Kane was one of those players who wore eye black, but when he was asked if it actually helps, he had a hilarious and honest response.

As the old saying goes, you look good, you play good and Kane is going to make sure his eye black looks just right when game-time rolls around.

In a game like this, it's all about having fun, enjoying the moment and of course winning, something the Sabres didn't do ten years ago against the Penguins but will look to do this time around.
