Okay, we’re going to need to put on our Department of Player Safety hats for this one.
Earlier this week, one Kangaroo laid a blindside hit on a cyclist in Australia with a puck nowhere near either of them. Kangaroos do have a history which will come into play, and injury will play a factor in this hearing. While it was reported that “Within a day she was having a rueful laugh about it all” the cyclist did have to get stitches and have her right arm put in a sling.
Of all the fouls committed on this play, the most egregious may be that the Kangaroo clearly left its feet. When you freeze-frame on the moment of impact, it’s easy to see that it is clearly in the air before making contact and well afterword.
Considering the history of dangerous hits (See the hit from behind below), we’re dishing out a 5-game suspension.
