Oh nooooooooo.

Ladies and gents, we have an own goal to report from the first game of the World Junior Hockey Championship. Sometimes we see a player accidentally deflect a puck in, or even score on their own tendy with a clear attempt. But this time around, it was the goalie responsible for putting the biscuit in his own basket.

Kazakhstan goaltender Vladislac Nurek accidentally got the puck caught under his skate and slowly but surely kicked it into his own net. Kind of. The puck probably shouldn’t have landed under his skate in the first place, but still… you can’t help but feel bad for the guy.

Tough own goal for Kazakhstan 🤦♂️🤦♂️

You just hate to see it.

In the end, it didn’t make a difference as Switzerland was able to pull out a 5-3 win (without any empty-netters). This was the first game and nerves were obviously present, but let’s hope this was the last of this kind of goal we’ll see in the tournament.

Yikes.
