Did anyone realize TSN’s very own Ryan Rishaug used to be quite the hockey player?

Before making a name for himself in the sport media industry, The Kamloops, BC native played 47 games for his hometown’s WHL Blazers. Now, Rishaug is doing his damage off the ice reporting on Ken Hitchcock’s Edmonton Oilers. Hitchcock is relatively new to the scene in Edmonton after being awarded the head coaching position just over a month ago but it appears he already feels pretty comfortable with the 41-year-old.

Earlier today, Hitchcock made noise after he dropped a pretty gutless chirp on Rishaug involving his hockey career. He made his views on the reporter’s game pretty clear with his comments.

Ouch?!

Okay, so it didn’t exactly come out of nowhere. Rishaug later clarified on his own account that Hitchcock’s comments were in good fun. Though he didn’t seem to disagree with them…

Hitchcock actually coached the Blazers before heading to the NHL and led them to two league titles in 1986 and 1990. Rishaug ultimately played in the Dub primarily in the 1995-96 season but you can probably bet the old bench boss was still keeping tabs on his old squad.

It’s nice to see that the veteran coach is still having fun at 67 years of age!
