The United States men's basketball team is heading home with the gold medal!
Kevin Durant scored 29 points and Team USA defeated France 87-82 on Friday night to secure gold for the States fourth straight Olympic games.
The Americans have now won gold in every Olympics since Beijing 2008. Despite their previous record at the games, some basketball fans had their doubts from the start. In July, they lost exhibition games to Nigeria and Australia; both games that they should have won. Then once the games began they lost 83-76 to France. Somehow they turned it around and was able to get their revenge in the gold medal game.
Regardless of their path, Kevin Durant always had faith in his team. The Brooklyn Nets star went on Instagram live to call out anyone that doubted Team USA. KD believes that Team USA's skill is "unmatched" compared to the rest of the world.
