The New York Yankees had their home opener postponed because of snow and it appears as if their next game is expected to be unseasonably cold as well.

The Yankees don’t have a dome like the Rays or Jays, so they’re forced to take on whatever weather as thrown their way, as long as the field is playable. It’s expected to rain and feel like 2 degrees Celsius at Yankees Stadium against the Rays and players are deciding on strategies to stay warm. Kevin Kiermaier has far and away the weirdest solution.

Kiermaier is going to look like a Philadelphia light post in tonight’s game, but we can’t imagine this being comfortable.

Having your uniform basically sticking to your body throughout the game doesn’t sound like it’ll feel to great, but perhaps it’s another strategy to catching the ball. If he really gets enough Vaseline on him, maybe he can just let the ball hit him and it will get stuck in the goo.

Other than that, we can’t imagine this strategy becoming a trend.

Now, where it might actually help him is along the base paths. It’s going to look like he’s sliding on ice out there. Add that to the tarp with a potential rain delay and we’re really having fun.
