Superstitions. A lot of us have them while others are just a little sticious (sup Michael Scott), but for Kyrie Irving, we guess some sort of vibes were hitting him as he returned to Boston for the first time since leaving the Celtics in 2019.

So Kyrie of course, vibe checked TD Garden by burning sage around the court prior to the Nets match up.

Within Indigenous cultures, the practice of burning sage, otherwise known as smudging, is seen as a spiritual cleansing of a person or place to further promote wisdom and healing.

And while Kyrie is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe via his mother’s roots, the practice is so unique to sports because we frankly haven’t seen it before within an NBA environment.

And it’s pretty cool, we’re not going to lie.

Will we see more of it? Maybe who knows, but it’s great to see Kyrie representing his heritage and culture within his work life.

As Kyrie left the Celtics on some pretty questionable terms and missed the Nets' previous match-up with the Celtics due to a shoulder injury, the vibes entering and exhibiting TD Garden are definitely cleansing worth.
