Last season, the Tampa Bay Lightning were embarrassed in the first round of the NHL playoffs after everyone picked them as the favourites to win it all.

As a result, Lightning owner Jeff Vinik took out a full page ad in the newspaper to apologize to fans for the way their season ended, and that led to more scrutinizing from hockey fans everywhere.

Well, the next page he’ll be taking out in the paper won’t be an apology post, it’ll be a thank you and congratulatory post.

Even though he couldn’t make the trip to the bubble because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he made sure to give the players a call immediately after they got back into the room to congratulate them personally before they get home.

They were due and now they’re champions.
