If you follow San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture on Twitter, then you know that he’s an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan.

The 29-year-old regularly tweets about the professional baseball squad that plays only an hour and some away from his home town of Guelph, and last night was no exception after a devastating loss at the Rogers Centre. Wins can’t come quicker for a Blue Jays team well out of a Wild Card spot, and they dropped a crucial outing in extra innings to the Minnesota Twins. After Toronto surrendered six runs in the top of the 11th, Couture expressed his frustration with one simple emoji.

It’s not easy being a Jays fan right now. The team was among the league’s best just a couple of seasons ago and have seen their production drop dramatically since. Injuries have played a role in derailing their season and instead of buying players at the deadline, they’ve found themselves selling. So in a sense, that white flag kind of resembles their season as a whole.

Seemingly out of the hunt, Toronto will look to rebound and get back on track next season (barring a comeback run for the ages). With a strong offseason, Couture’s tweets could look different in a year’s time.
