The NBA offseason is in full swing, providing all sorts of entertainment for its fans.

From Drake hosting the NBA awards show, to Russell Westbrook receiving praise from Kevin Durant for winning the MVP, and all the juicy rumors floating around the internet, the compelling storylines and breaking news is generating a ton of water-cooler conversations.

Weโ€™re only three days out from the beginning of free agency, but todayโ€™s headlines encapsulated why there are no days off when youโ€™re a basketball junkie.

First, the New York Knicks announced the departure of team president Phil Jackson this morning. The two sides mutually agreed to part ways three seasons into Jacksonโ€™s tenure with the team, where he compiled an abysmal 80-166 record.  The former Lakers and Bulls coach aggravated Knicks fans by disputing with superstar Carmelo Anthony and announcing his intentions of possibly trading Kristaps Porzingis.

Then, the Houston Rockets shocked the basketball world by acquiring all-star point guard Chris Pau from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker, and a top-three protected 2018 first-round draft pick.

With Paul heading to the Rockets, much of the attention will now be focused on Clippers power forward Blake Griffin.  Thereโ€™s no doubt that Griffin will draw the serious suitors when the free agency floodgates open after he elected to opt out of his contract, and his days Los Angeles are likely over with Paul out of the picture.

The Boston Celtics could be one of those teams, and if Isaiah Thomas gets his way, perhaps Griffin could be exchanging his Clippers colours for the Celtic green. Shortly after the Paul trade was announced, Thomas quickly put up a shot โ€“ much like he does on the court โ€“ in a recruiting manner on Instagram.
