Andreas Borgman joined the Toronto Maple Leafs nearly one year ago as an undrafted free agent and he’s managed to adjust to the North American style of play in his first season with the club.

The 22-year-old defenceman has appeared in 48 games for the Maple Leafs this season, but he’s currently spending time in the AHL with the league-leading Toronto Marlies. On Wednesday night, the Marlies hosted the lowly Laval Rocket in a meaningless regular season and the rookie put his skills on display with an end-to-end individual effort.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the game and the home team up 3-1, Borgman saw quite a few openings as he took the puck up the ice and never let go of it once before burying his fourth goal of the season to put the game out of reach.

The Marlies added one more goal to beat the Rocket 5-1.
