There aren’t too many things out there that symbolize Canada more than maple syrup.

After all, Canada is responsible for 71% of the planet’s supply of the sweet, sticky substance.

With the 2018 CFL season on the horizon, we here at BarDown decided to bring one of our national treasures to the football field for players in the Canadian Football League that might be unfamiliar with the popular breakfast condiment.

We asked James Wilder Jr. of the Toronto Argonauts, Naaman Roosevelt of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Jeremiah Masoli of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Greg Ellingson of the Ottawa REDBLACKS, and Tyrell Sutton of the Montreal Alouettes if they could differentiate Canadian maple syrup and table syrup.

The Aunt Jemima references were hands down the best part. But let’s get real here: we’re definitely biased, but maple syrup hands down crushes table syrup. The main ingredient isn’t tree sap like the good old Canadian kind, but rather, corn syrup or high-fructose processed corn syrup.

Besides, you also get 62 percent of your daily required serving of the nutrient riboflavin!

James Paxton would be proud, boys.
