That's not actually how that particular idiom goes, but that's how it went down for Maple Leafs forward Matt Martin while he was attempting to help his girlfriend find her sunglasses. Earlier in the week, Martin's girlfriend, Sydney Esiason, shared an image of a humorous text exchange between the two on the whereabouts of a pair of sunglasses.
As anyone who has ever misplaced something of value knows, your greatest fear is that someone may have stolen them. But as Martin stated to Esiason, it was more likely that she had lost them, and so began the frantic search.
Kudos to Martin on perfecting his comedic timing on the reveal. A little levity goes a long way when someone is convinced they've lost some important. Well, that is if the joke involves actually revealing that you found what that person is looking for. Otherwise, keep those jokes to yourself or the next thing lost will be your head.
