While some fans are speculating that Toronto Maple Leafs RFA William Nylander is on the move, Mike Babcock believes he’s going to be sticking around.

For a long, long time.

Two days are all that remain until Nylander’s fate is decided but the head coach feels confident that his prized Swede will be staying in blue and white for a while. In fact, he and general manager Kyle Dubas think that Nylander is going to be a “career Leaf.’

So… do these guys know something that we don’t?!

Despite Babcock’s optimism, things aren’t so simple. With John Tavares signed at $11 million for seven years and Auston Matthews & Mitch Marner also due contracts, fitting Nylander into the picture is obviously complicated. The 22-year-old has been adamant about earning a long-term deal and the math just might not add up. Pierre LeBrun reported earlier today that the Leafs are doing their final rounds of trade offers before making their decision.

Babcock wasn’t the only Leaf to pipe in on the situation. Matthews also shared some words about it and is just hoping the whole things gets resolved.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.
