Time is running out.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are just two days away from risking losing their prized forward William Nylander for the rest of the season. While the team (and its fans) are remaining hopeful that a deal will get done, a report by Pierre LeBrun might cause some people to lose sleep over the next couple of days. On Thursday afternoon, LeBrun reported that the team has “circled back to some teams”, suggesting they put their best offer on the table.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie elaborated on LeBrun’s report with a pretty blunt tweet of his own.

No one really knows what to expect from Nylander or Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas at this point. What we do know is that Nylander was recently spotted skating overseas in Sweden with the AIK-20 team.

The Nylander RFA saga has seemingly gone on forever, but everything will come to a resolve in the next couple of days. In the meantime, Toronto has been dominating regular season play led by Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews, who are each owed a new contract in the upcoming offseason as well.
