Sometimes you forget how young Mitch Marner and many of the other Leafs players really are.

For Mitch, an easy way to put things in perspective is that when the Leafs’ last Game 7 against the Bruins went down, he was still a fan of the team rather than playing for it. It was before he had ever suited up for Team Canada at the World Junior Championship and he hadn’t even played a game in the OHL yet.

So, in what might be the most relatable experience for young Leafs fans who also watched the 2013 Game 7 collapse, he explained that he simply turned the TV off and went upstairs to play some video games.

He was saddened by the loss at the time, but now as a member of the team he grew up watching he has a chance to offer kids just like him a more positive memory. He’s hoping they can do that on Wednesday night.

Honestly, most kids will be playing video games after anyways, it’s just a question of how their mood will be going into it. Who knows, maybe the Leafs will be playing later that night as well.
