We would certainly like to see a resolution to the NBA season — and we can imagine that many of the players on contending teams within reach of a championship feel similar — but if we do get a conclusion, it’ll certainly be a delayed one. Around this time in a normal year, we would normally be in the third round of the playoffs.

For the curious, we can at least crown an NBA champion in 2K’s official sim of the playoffs. The results aren’t necessarily too surprising — the top seeds in the playoffs advance to the NBA Finals, with the Los Angeles Lakers knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks in a series that went to seven games.

Maybe most surprising? For the first time in a LeBron James championship season, LeBron James wasn’t anointed the Finals MVP; that distinction went to Anthony Davis instead.

With respect to other bubble contenders including the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics  and Denver Nuggets — as well as the Los Angeles Clippers, who would probably be the third team this year to garner full-fledged contender status — the Bucks and the Lakers have dominated the league and figure to be a safe pick for a potential Finals matchup.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have been genuinely special in the regular season, but there still is doubt about whether or not they’re ready for the challenge of LeBron and AD. At any rate, 2K has it coming down to the wire.

With any luck, we’ll get to find out if this sim actually does come to fruition in reality this season.
