From “Playoff P” to “Pandemic P”.

On Thursday, the LA Clippers announced that Paul George has signed a four-year, $190 million contract extension to go on top of the $35.4 million he had guaranteed for the 2020-21 season.

Immediately following the extension, Pandemic P was trending on Twitter.

Paul George was given the nickname “Playoff P” from his previous success in the post-season. After being picked up by the Clippers in 2019, many people had high expectations for the five-time All-NBA forward to lead the Clippers to a championship. PG, who averaged 21.5 points,  5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assist in the regular season, underperformed when it was really time to shine.

NBA fans gave George the new nickname "Pandemic P" when he couldn’t live up to expectations in August. Now that he’s signed they’re back at it again, roasting him on Twitter.

Don’t worry, PG! With all of those years of success behind you, you still have time to redeem yourself!
