New year, new Mascot Power Rankings, right?  Nope.  The same power rankings you've come to know and love are back and better than ever for the first time in 2019.  We hope all the mascots out in the sports world enjoyed the holidays and maybe some time off, but it's time to get back to one of the things we do best, rank mascots.

For those new to the program, "Masc-Scott" is the person behind the rankings and they are not a popularity contest, so just because a lot of people like Youppi doesn't mean Montreal's mascot will make the top ten.  Everyone knows the sports world is a "what have you done for me lately" world, and so are the power rankings.

For the first power rankings of 2019, Masc-Scott took into account everything from July 1st until now.  In other words, enjoy the rankings!

10. NJ Devil, New Jersey Devils (Up 23 spots)

We see you NJ Devil, we see you.

9. The Coyote, San Antonio Spurs (Up 172 spots)

If you didn't watch the Sugar Bowl between Texas and Georgia, you will a little later in the rankings.  Basically Texas' mascot went after Georgia's mascot and this recreation is pretty spot on.

8. Louie, St. Louis Blues (Up 61 spots)

Savage is Masc-Scott's middle name.  The mascot power ranker loves savage moments like this one from Louie.

7. Howler, Arizona Coyotes (Up 233 spots)

This could be a team mascot award, but it was Howler's birthday, so the Coyotes' mascot gets the credit.

6. Chance, Vegas Golden Knights (Down 2 spots)

Speaking of savage...keep your head up Gritty because Chance is coming for you.

5. Pierre The Pelican, New Orleans Pelicans (Up 54 spots)

The #BirdBoxChallenge had a bit of an influence on this edition of the Mascot Power Rankings and while some will laugh at Pierre for the unfortunate moment, we're here to lift Pierre up.

4. Staley Da Bear, Chicago Bears (Up 109 spots)

Who can relate?

3. Grizz, Memphis Grizzlies (Up 619 spots)

As many of you know, Masc-Scott is a huge fan of wrestling, so any time a mascot puts someone through a table and executes a perfect "RKO Outta Nowhere", chances are that mascot will be in the top three like Grizz.

2. Bevo and UGA, Texas and Georgia (Up 42 spots)

1. Gritty, Philadelphia Flyers (No change)

Sources close to Masc-Scott told us this was the closest Gritty has come to losing the top spot.  The reign at the top for the Flyers' mascot continues, though, and we're not sure when it will end.
