Baseball fans got not one, but two bench-clearing brawls on Wednesday, the second of which featured the Yankees and Red Sox.

Things got heated when Joe Kelly hit Tyler Austin with a 98mph pitch.  Austin charged the mound and the rest is history.  After the game, Kelly was asked about the pitch that hit Austin and this is what he said:

Does anyone believe Kelly? Nope!
Of course, there's a very good reason why Kelly didn't say he was trying to hit Austin in response to his slide that cut Brock Holt, and that reason is he doesn't want to get suspended or fined at all (or more than what he could be suspended or fined).
So, the theory that Kelly said he didn't do it on purpose to avoid further discipline is much more plausible than him saying the pitch just got away from him.
