"Beast Mode" and "Dad Mode" are essentially one and the same. In both situations the person is granted superhuman-like abilities for a brief moment so that they can step in and save the day. This Oilers fan most definitely went into Dad Mode.

Monday, during the warmup at the Oilers-Coyotes game, Edmonton defenceman Darnell Nurse spotted a young fan and was kind enough to stop and attempt to hand him a souvenir in the form of the puck. As is standard, Nurse tossed the puck over the glass. Sensing that his son may not be able to catch the puck, an Oilers fan transformed into SuperDad, grabbing the puck out of mid air as a concerned Nurse looked on.

Phew...now that was a close one. Clearly Nurse was simply trying to handover a gift to the little fan, and he threw up the puck pretty lightly, but thankfully the dad saw that his son wasn't quite able to make the catch.

We've seen the situation play out in reverse, too, with the son saving the day. Take this young Giants fan for example who prevented his dad from taking a baseball to the dome with an alert catch.
