When NHL players show up to the rink, they are always dressed to impress. This is because of strict dress codes enforced on game day, ensuring that the players won’t show up wearing Russell Westbrook-esque attire.

Well, the Tampa Bay Lightning are apparently adopting this idea and repurposing it for their own use. Their dress code is much simpler though, no Washington Capitals apparel.

It only applies in certain areas of the rink – the Lightning’s Lexus Lounge (which include the seats against the glass) and the Chase Club luxury suites – but if fans are seen wearing red or Caps’ logos within these areas they will be asked to remove them in favour of neutral colours instead. Overall the total seat coverage is about 7% of the arena.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are forcing a dress code because they are so scare Caps fans are going to #RocktheRed #ALLCAPS

This is not the only measure the club is taking in trying to ensure the sweetest possible home ice advantage. Tickets to Lightning home games are being sold exclusively to Florida residents in an effort to weed out the Caps’ fans.
