It hasn’t been smooth sailing (in the slightest) for the Edmonton Oilers to kick off the NHL’s regular season, but that hasn’t stopped captain Connor McDavid from lighting up the stat sheet. The Oilers earned their first win thanks to a game-winning goal from the 21-year-old against the New York Rangers in a 2-1 victory. With two points, McDavid increased his season total to five through three games and get this: he’s contributed on every Oilers goal so far…

Seriously. The Oilers have scored just five goals and Connor has recorded three of them along with two assists.

That’s just insane.

Here’s another crazy stat for you: only six Oilers have recorded at least one point so far this season (McDavid, Draisaitl, Lucic, Nugent-Hopkins, Nurse and Rattie). Just four have tallied a goal and the team has collectively put home just two goals on the power play so far.

The Oilers take on the Jets Tuesday at Bell MTS Place and will be tasked with scoring on reigning Vezina finalist Connor Hellebuyck. At one point or another, a different Oiler is going to have to step up.
