NHL fans talk a lot about how well their team’s audience travels with the team, especially in Canada, but only one team has the stats to back up their argument.
As they usually are, Leafs fans are pretty loud and proud of their fans’ attendance in opposing teams’ buildings. Unfortunately for them, it’s their biggest rival that seems to pull the biggest crowd. While there is no way to definitively say whether it’s the teams’ own fans that are filling the seats, you can definitely say that the Montreal Canadiens have pulled the biggest crowds this season.
This season, they have attracted a monstrous 113% of capacity on the road. No other team is even over 100%.

This isn’t a regular occurrence either. While the Canadiens do usually sit among the top half of the league, but they were only at 95.7% last season.
It will be interesting to see if the Canadiens can keep this up for the rest of the season, but for now they have a little bit of ammunition to go against Leafs fans who feel like their team is the one filling up the most barns in the league.
