The Philadelphia Flyers announced some brutal news on Friday when they revealed that 23-year-old forward Oskar Lindblom had been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, and will miss the rest of the season while he undergoes treatment.

The hockey world was quick to rally around Lindblom through the #OskarStrong hashtag, and even while he’s physically away from the team, the Flyers will have him in spirit.

Before their game on Saturday in Minnesota, the Flyers were spotted with Lindblom’s jersey and nameplate hung up in his stall in the visitors’ locker room. Anyone else getting emotional right here?

This is one of those stories that transcends the game and fanbase barriers. Even on the road, the Flyers were met with #OskarStrong fan signs in Minnesota, and during a first period timeout, the Wild took a moment to offer their own well wishes for Lindblom.
