While hockey culture is all about grit, toughness, and rivalry, there are some things that are just bigger than all that. Sometimes life gets in the way, and there’s no better example of that than Oskar Lindblom at the moment.

The Philadelphia Flyers forward was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer – Ewing’s sarcoma – and will undergo intense chemotherapy and radiation as a result. The type of cancer only registers approximately 1,000 new cases per year.

With an outpouring of support from the Flyers, the NHL, and the entire hockey community, Lindblom shared an appreciation post to his Instagram, picturing himself alongside teammate Robert Hagg.

“The last week has been very challenging for me, but I’m so happy for all the love and strength you all are giving me on this journey. The support has been unreal and we are so thankful for everything - big thanks to all of you, it means a lot”

We wish nothing but the best for Lindblom, and a speedy recovery and return to the ice.
