Monday night was one to forget for Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin.

With an opportunity to clinch the series in Carolina, Washington fell flat in a 5-2 road loss that in hindsight, maybe should have had a different outcome. With his team down 3-2 in the third period, Ovechkin appeared to tie things up with his second of the game but it was waived off after it was determined he made contact with goaltender Petr Mrazek. After the final call was announced, Ovi lost it from the bench.

We’ll let you figure out what he said on your own…Here's what the league had to say about the call:

Things went from bad to worse for the Russian as the period progressed, as he found himself in the dressing room before the final horn thanks to a sarcastic gesture he made towards the refs. His actions were in response to a slashing call he took with 1:08 remaining in regulation.

Washington now find themselves heading home in a do or die game, and they couldn’t be facing a worse player with it all on the line. ‘Canes captain Justin Williams has been an assassin in Game 7s.

Seriously…

It’s going to be a wild one on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena.
