PSA: Jack Hughes earned himself a new nickname!

The young forward led the Devils to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night with a huge 2 point night.

His loan goal was highlight reel worthy. With the play in Pittsburgh’s end, Hughes wheeled around the defender, walked in on the short side and ripped the puck upstairs. While the shot itself was crazy, he also did an incredible job leading up to by protecting the puck on the wall before putting the Devils on the scoreboard.

Following the win, Devils defenceman P.K. Subban went to Instagram to announce Jack’s big promotion. According to Subban, due to his dominant performance, Jack Hughes new nickname has officially been changed to “Gentleman’s Jack”.

Seems pretty fitting now if you ask us.

Subban originally gave Hughes his old nickname “Lil Jizzy” after he scored his first NHL goal in 2019. The nickname quickly became popular within the Devils organization and around the hockey world.

Congrats on the new nickname Jack!

Well deserved.
