Hockey is an emotional sport, and when players end up taking penalties during crunch time it can lead to some emotional reactions from the sin bin. We’ve seen cameras smashed, bottles thrown, and about a million penalty box doors have been slammed shut. In fact, penalty boxes are where some of the most interesting moments in hockey happen.

Of course, this isn’t minor league hockey. When you head to the box, it isn’t exactly isolation island. There is also a penalty box attendant there dealing with every distraction players throw at them, just ask Nazem Kadri.

On Monday, P.K. Subban got in on the penalty box action. After taking a penalty with moments to go in the game, Subban took it out on his stick as you could see him smashing his stick multiple times before play began again. While the attendant could be seen flinching each time Subban smashed his stick, P.K. made sure to give the guy a little endearing tap to show that he isn’t being forgotten about.

The attendant seemed to appreciate the consideration, although it may have been different had the butt end of his stick caught flesh like Kadri. The Preds went on to win the game, anyway.
