Hockey fans will get nostalgic if they see the Anaheim Ducks rocking their 25th anniversary jerseys. The famous “Mighty Ducks” logo has become one of the most endeared images in the NHL, helped in part by the movie trilogy coming out of Hollywood.

It was also helped along by B.C. native Paul Kariya.

Kariya sits in the top 5 of just about every Ducks record board, including at the top of points/goals per game. While Kariya was dealt some injuries during his career, notably when he was knocked unconscious by a vicious Scott Stevens hit, but he still managed to become a huge part of the Ducks’ identity in their earlier days.

On Sunday, he was rewarded with his iconic #9 being retired. Just before the ceremony, each Ducks player had one opportunity to wear the famous Kariya jersey before it was raised to the rafters for good.
