France has a lot to celebrate at the moment. Les Bleus made their country proud when they managed to overcome an energetic Croatian team to secure their first World Cup victory in 20 years. The French went undefeated in the tournament, with their only non-victory coming in the form of a draw with Denmark during the group stage.

Well, it’s a good thing they know how to celebrate. In fact, their particular celebrations have been some of the most talked about at the tournament.

It’s safe to say the French National Team is a fan of the hugely popular video game Fortnite. On multiple occasions during the World Cup the French have broken out celebrations associated with the rapidly popularizing game. When the team and its players reached the biggest game of their careers, they didn’t hold back with the taunts.

Antoine #Griezmann breaks out the #Fortnite celebration after giving #France the lead 😂😂

While the taunt likely wasn’t done to put down Croatia as much as it was to excitedly play into one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons of the last year, some people are thinking it was done in bad taste. Some people believe it was unsportsmanlike, while others believe that a penalty shot (one that is awarded through the controversial new VAR element, no less) is not the kind of basis that merits such a taunt.

How does Griezmann feel about the backlash? We don’t know for sure, but we’re guessing it’s the last thing on his mind.
