It’s an interesting set-up at this weekend’s outdoor NHL games at Lake Tahoe. The Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche were scheduled to play in an afternoon game under bright sun, and the first period of play was genuinely picturesque.

There has been some unforeseen difficulty with the setting, though, and it’s maybe best summed up by this photo of Phillip Grubauer. With his net facing the sun, Grubauer decided to don a pair of shades for warm-ups... and it’s a whole mood.

Grubauer had to ditch the shades once the game started for real, with just eye black applied like everybody else.

That wouldn’t be the only problem that this game would run into, however, as it entered a delay following the first period due to poor ice conditions brought on by the sun. The game remains in delay currently with plans to resume later on Saturday night.

Still, though, despite the practical difficulties... We gotta acknowledge that this is a gorgeous scene for a game.
