Defence has not been the Pittsburgh Pirates’ strong point during their three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks as they allowed 22 runs over the first two games in back-to-back losing efforts. The Pirates’ defence picked up where they left off to start Wednesday’s game as David Peralta kicked things off with his 12th home run of the year with some help from left fielder Austin Meadows.

Peralta smoked a hard-hit ball to left field and Meadows did a good job tracking it down. However, he failed to secure the ball once it made contact with his glove as it appeared to be too much for him to handle.

This isn’t the first time this has happened in a baseball game and it certainly won’t be the last time it happens. As for the Pirates, they managed to bounce back and picked up a 5-4 win to end the series on a high note.
