Getting the chance to be an emergency back-up goaltender is a dream come true for the average joe: You get to take in an NHL game from the bench, and get your own jersey with your name on it.

That is, if you actually want your name on the back.

During Friday night’s Flames and Rangers game from New York, Rangers backup Ondrej Pavelec was injured and never came out to his crease to start the second period. Henrik Lundqvist was forced into action, and lead the Rangers to a 4-3 victory.

But the bigger story was the emergency backup goaltender the Rangers dressed in case King Henrik went down.

Wearing an extra set of Lundqvist’s pads, Adam Kaiser’s roommate got his own custom jersey with the name “McBackup” on the nameplate equipped with Rob Gronkowski’s favourite number, No. 69.

Talk about an opportunity of a lifetime. Imagine if he actually got to play, coming in as ‘McBackup’ wearing that number, which by the way, nobody wears in the NHL. That number is reserved strictly for Doug Glatt is Goon, although you'd imagine Doug would be okay with letting this 'tendy wear his number for a night.

Did you happen to see what was in the fridge? This guy had a great night.

Nice.
