Hockey players are often given the tag of some of the roughest and toughest athletes around, but they’re not the only tough ones on the ice.

Referees deal with more abuse (Emotional and physical) than many players at times and are forced to do it while wearing less equipment. A prime example came last night when referee Kelly Sutherland was drilled in the shoulder by a dump in from the Vegas Golden Knights and brushed it off pretty quickly.

Perhaps it was the words of encouragement he received shortly after that inspired him.

WARNING: NSFW Language.

You can’t get much more stereotypically hockey than that.

We’re not exactly sure who said it, it looks as if it was probably linesman Shane Heyer, but with how many mics there are around the rink it could have been anybody. With Crosby right there, we would love to imagine it was him, but that doesn’t sound like his voice.

Referee moments are the best in hockey. Atta boy Kelly!
