The football world received some sad news on Friday, as former Toronto Argonaut, Dallas Cowboy and TSN football analyst Chris Schultz. According to TSN’s  Rod Smith, Schultz passed away from a heart attack. He was 61.

A former offensive lineman, Schultz spent 1983-85 with the Cowboys before transitioning to the Canadian Football League from 1986-94. With the Argos, the Burlington, Ontario native was named an all-star in both the 1987 and ’88 seasons, and ultimately captured a Grey Cup in 1991. After retiring, Schultz ultimately joined TSN as a CFL broadcaster and NFL Insider, where he established himself as a larger-than-life, hard-working personality. His colleagues took time to, as Rod Smith put it, his “football life” on Twitter.

Schultz was recognized for his achievements both on and off the gridiron in 2016 when he was elected to the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. In 2007, he was named to the Argonauts’ all-time team.

Schultzy, you will be missed. Our condolences are with his family at this time.
