Monday night, the Ducks played their home opener and warmed up in a jersey all too familiar to hockey fans.

As nice as it was to see the jerseys worn before the game, fans would have loved to see the Ducks rock the jerseys for the actual game.

Many have speculated as to why they haven't been able to wear those classic jerseys since they changed their name and logo (got rid of the "Mighty") and in this particular case, Eric Stephens of The Athletic explained why they weren't able to wear the sweater against the Red Wings.

It's an unfortunate reason and while we'd love a more detailed explanation as to why they didn't approve (if in fact that's the case), what the NHL says goes at the end of the day.

Seeing those jerseys in any capacity was good enough for us, though, and we're happy the Ducks brought them back.
