When you’re playing in the NHL at 5’6, 180 pounds, you need to keep your head on a swivel. One wrong turn, one bobbled pass, and the chances of you finding yourself sitting helpless on your bottom are higher than most. Nashville Predators forward Rocco Grimaldi is no exception and was one of the latest victims to get crushed by a defender nearly an entire foot taller than him.

The Preds travelled to Montreal to take on the Canadiens last Saturday night where Grimaldi was involved in a massive collision with Habs captain Shea Weber. Grimaldi was coming down the boards when Weber absolutely laid into him, instantly causing him to lose his feet. All was good, though, as the 25-year-old wasn’t hurt and even poked fun of the body-check after the game on Twitter. He managed to find an incredible photo of it and had some fun with his caption after posting it.

Ouch!

As incredible as the photo is, it might not even stand as the best one from this season. Earlier in the year Sidney Crosby was sprung on a breakaway in overtime against the New York Islanders before he was poke-checked by Thomas Greiss. Photographer Matt Sunday managed to get the perfect photo of arguably the league’s best player looking flat-out stunned!

In the end, Grimaldi and the Preds came out on top 4-1 so at least that softened the blow a bit. But man… we can all agree that Shea Weber is one of the LAST people we’d want to get smoked into the boards by.
