The first leg of the Spanish Super Cup lived up to the crazy hype like only El Classico can. Following Neymar's extended transfer saga that inevitably saw the Brazilian star move from Barcelona to Paris St.Germain, Real Madrid entered the Super Cup as the favourite.

Tied at 1-1 with just over ten minutes to go in the game, Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the lead for Real Madrid with a sensational goal, dribbling past Gerard Pique before nailing a shot from just inside the box.

Ronaldo received a yellow card for taking his shirt off during his celebration, and it proved to be costly. Just a few minutes later Ronaldo found himself on the break, but tripped up on Samuel Umtiti and fell to the ground. Ronaldo looked up at the ref hoping to see a penalty called, but instead was shown a second yellow card, followed by a red, putting an end to his night. Shocked by the call, Ronaldo struck out in anger at the ref, giving him a shove.

While it definitely wasn't a penalty, we also don't think Ronaldo's fall warranted a second yellow, as it did seem like he just tripped up after contact. Due to the red card Ronaldo won't be featured in the second leg of the Super Cup, putting Barcelona in the driver's seat despite having lost the game 3-1 at home.
