During Sunday’s 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson took a late hit from Karlos Dansby right in the jaw. As you can see in the video, Wilson anticpates the hit by closing his eyes right before the contact is made.

The hit created some controversy under the NFL’s concussion protocol. Wilson lied on the ground after the hit, but seemed fine upon getting up. The Seahawks QB had to go over to the designated tent area to receive medical treatment, but left before the medical team could attend to him. The NFL announced a formal investigation into the case to see if Wilson actually went through the formal concussion protocol, or if he decided to disregard it.

Time will tell whether Wilson ducked out of the proper procedure, but he cant hind from the treatment he’s currently undergoing.

He’s actually endorsing it. The 28-year-old posted a video on his Instagram account of himself wearing a swimcap and goggles along with a mouth guard that will help “fix and realign my disc in my jaw.”

My Jaw is hurt and Dr. is making me wear this to fix and realign my disc in my jaw. #Brutal #Jaws #MyFaceHurts

Wilson doesn’t see too worried about any possible repercussions. The league’s policy says that players who show signs of concussion-like sysptoms must undergo a series of tests by the medical staff before being allowed to play again. The Seahawks could be fined up to $150,000 if they’re deemed at fault for allowing Wilson skip out on the tests.

The former NC State and Wisconsin grad is tied for second in touchdowns thrown by a quarterback with 19, and is only second to Tom Brady in passing yards with 2,543.
