Arkells have grown a lot since the release of their debut album Jackson Square in 2008.

When they aren’t busy writing new music, the Hamilton, Ontario, band is pretty much occupied with shows all year long, especially during the summertime. Since the summer is the perfect time for bands to play outdoor shows, they take full advantage of the warm weather and play as many outdoor shows as they can.

On Tuesday, the band announced an upcoming show taking place at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater in Lewiston, New York, later this month and they got some help from Buffalo Sabres centre Ryan O’Reilly.

The Sabres’ assistant captain replaced Arkells guitarist Mike DeAngelis on guitar and jammed out with lead vocalist Max Kerman to Leather Jacket from the band’s 2014 release High Noon.

Kerman hints at O’Reilly joining the band on stage at the upcoming show as a guest guitarist, which would be pretty sweet if it happened since the band members are huge hockey fans and O’Reilly is an Arkells fan.

Perhaps the Sabres’ forward can get an all-New York band started with New York Islanders forward Jordan Eberle and New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
