It’s the most common debate in basketball; LeBron or MJ? Who’s the TRUE GOAT? You could go on and on about their stats and championships, but Scottie Pippen made it pretty clear about which side he’s on while appearing on ESPN's First Take.

Pippen pointed to MJ’s clutch factor, noting that LBJ doesn’t possess the same “ability to want to have the last shot.” But he didn’t stop there, as he continued to mention that LeBron isn’t even “what Kobe was as a player."

“When I look at LeBron, he’s not what Michael (Jordan) was as a player. He’s not even what Kobe Bryant was as a player. So, when you talk about trying to compare Michael’s instinct, his ability to take over games, his ability to want to have that last shot, LeBron doesn’t have that gene. That’s not in him.”

Basketball fans obviously chimed in afterward on Twitter:

This is FAR from the first time that Pippen’s chimed in on the discussion. The Starters co-host J.E. Skeets actually made a timeline with Pippen’s different takes on the debate. The man just keeps on changing his mind every time apparently!

So you’re saying that it’s not fair to compare the two but then just go ahead and do it anyway… what?! In May of 2018, Pippen didn’t call either one of them the greatest, rather he referred to Wilt Chamberlain as the true GOAT. Make up your mind Scottie!

There really is no right or wrong answer but a little consistency would be nice!
