The Ottawa Senators were on a brutal stretch of games in which they had lost five straight and 14 of their last 15.

Last night, the finally ended that losing streak, defeating the New York Rangers 3-2. Earlier in the day, they may have received some inspiration from Pierre Dorion’s son. The general manager of the team revealed that his son had been brutally honest about the state of their team and, oh boy, it was a doozy.

There’s not many more direct ways to say it. The Sens turned the suck up to 11 for their last bunch of games, but they might be getting back on the right track. Now that they can hopefully put some of the Erik Karlsson and Kyle Turris headlines behind them, they can get back to focusing on hockey.

In the end, we’re sure they’ll turn it around now, but it’s going to tough to be able to climb back into contention.

Luckily for them, the standings in the NHL are kind of messed up, so they’re only seven points out of third in their division. The standings are so messed up right now, that the Pittsburgh Penguins are actually out of a playoff spot.
