Fans at sporting events are some of the most emotional people you’ll find in pictures, because so much can change in a single moment.

Whether it’s angry, happy, sad or any other feeling on the spectrum of the human brain, it is sure to come out in an animated way – which always makes for great photography. Wayne Rooney has caused a lot of fan reaction over the course of his career – making opposing fans angry for much of it. Yesterday, he netted his 200th career goal, and just like he made Manchester City fans angry through all his time at Man United, he continued to do it at Everton yesterday.

In fact, he even made some of the exact same fans angry over four years after he did the first time.

If you take a look at the pictures below, you’ll see what we mean. Rooney is pictured having just scored in both, and the highlighted fans are in the same position, making similarly angry gestures and faces.

Rooney even joked about the tweet afterword, stating that he was happy to see a few “familiar faces”.

The original photo was taken on December 9, 2012, when Manchester United defeated Manchester City 3-2. The photo from four years ago was taken by Paul Ellis, while yesterday’s was taken by Michael Regan.

Considering two different photographers took this photo over four years apart, we have absolutely no idea how someone noticed the same fans in the stands. It is a truly serendipitous moment during one of Rooney’s many milestones.
